Edgewater resort at Lake Wanaka has promoted its financial controller, Jon Brown, to the position of general manager.
Brown takes over from Mike Barton who leaves in late March. Prior to Edgewater, Brown worked with Accor Hotels and the Quest Apartment Hotel group in Australia.
Before his hotel career Brown was a business advisor with KPMG working largely with clients in the tourism and hospitality sectors.
A statement from Edgewater said that Brown “is looking forward to building upon and maintaining the inclusive and family-like culture that Edgewater is so well known for”.
Barton leaves after four years in the position and plans to work on personal projects and travel. He also was previously the financial controller at the resort which has 104 guest rooms as well as meeting and function facilities.
Brown’s appointment follows that of Ellita Thomas who has taken on the role of wedding and events manager. She replaces Sarah Searle who left in December to pursue other opportunities.
