Haka Tourism Group launched its $25m Haka Hotel – K’Road product in Auckland last night to top a notable year for the 10-year-old company.
Company founder Ryan Sanders said 2017 was a year to remember after it won four NZ Tourism awards including the prestigious Supreme Award.
“It’s also been an amazing year because we’ve brought on so many incredible people,” said Sanders. “This year alone we’ve probably brought on about 40 staff which is just incredible.”
The new, 11-storey hotel off Karangahape Road on Day Street is being leased to Haka by developer Andy Davies and will target the upmarket backpacker market.
The company launched its Haka Black upmarket brand this year and plans to open another hotel in Newmarket later this month.
