PRESS RELEASE: Red Travel
Red Travel, a division of Christchurch’s Iconic Red Bus Urban passenger transport company, has launched a new daily service from Christchurch to Kaikoura.
The Kaikoura Express aims to provide a quality service and increased frequency for commuters and visitors to the Kaikoura District and the wider Canterbury region.
Our new Kaikoura Express service recognises the continued growth of the FIT market within New Zealand and the Canterbury Region and the excitement around Kaikoura’s future.
The service will depart daily from Rolleston Avenue, Christchurch 8.30am and Kaikoura I-Site 4.30pm with complimentary drop off and pickups at Encounter Kaikoura.
Lynette Buurman, Business Manager Encounter Kaikoura says “we are very pleased to support the Kaikoura Express service about to be launched by Red Travel, Christchurch. The timetable enables passengers the opportunity to participate in the afternoon sailings for the Dolphin Encounter and also the Albatross Encounter tours and also offers a drop-off and pick service to our operating base on the Esplanade. We are very excited by the opportunities this new service offers to our business and the entire Kaikoura community”.
“On behalf of Destination Kaikoura and the Kaikoura Community we would like to express our thanks to Red Travel on the launch of the new Kaikoura Express from 2 October 2017! This daily bus return from Christchurch will fill a huge gap in our public transport connection with Christchurch allowing clients the opportunity to do local activities in a day as well as those clients that would like to spend longer in our beautiful town, Kaikoura,” says Julie Howden, Destination Kaikoura Board Chair
Paul McNoe, Red Bus Chief Executive says “We see a bright future for the Kaikoura region and Red Travel has been part of the Canterbury Tourism Scene for many years now. This is a natural fit to our business model as we look to accommodate more and more independent travellers. The Kaikoura Express also compliments our Akaroa Shuttle service. As a business and as people we are passionate about the region, the locals and encouraging visitors back to Kaikoura.”
An optional scenic photo opportunity with seals, quick points of interest en route and the ability to be collected from accommodation zones along with the airport are a key point of difference that Kaikoura Express will offer.
Kaikoura Express began operation on 2 October 2017. For full fare and departure times please refer to www.kaikouraexpress.co.nz
